Installation and Configuration Of Hive

Hi All,

Hive which was developed by Facebook for processing their tons of data.

Now i am providing you the steps how to install and configure it.

Hive Installation :-

Download hive Software from cloudera or apace hive-0.7.1-cdh3u3.tar.

Untar the File hive-0.7.1-cdh3u3.tar .

Now create an environment variable HIVE_HOME .

Export HIVE_HOME=/u10/app/ADOTST/apadotst/applmgr/hive/hive-0.7.1-cdh3u3/bin

Now Goto à HIVE_HOMEàconfà and edit the parameter’s as specified in Hive installation from apache .

I could have directly provided  the steps,it is better to understand from direct sources rather than in-direct sources.Any doubts kindly let me know ,will try to Solve.

Once all the configuration is Done give the below command’s to start the hive services.

$HIVE_HOME/bin/hive –service –help

$HIVE_HOME/bin/hive –service hiveserver(This will start the Thrift server )which is useful for 

the client to connect to the hive server .This service is mandatory .

Please provide the port 10,000 which is mentioned in the Oracle Documentation for the Big data.

$HIVE_HOME/bin/hive –service hwi (This will provide the hive interface )
